Most of the ones around here talk after every train goes over. Here at work, I hear only a single CSX detector constantly. At home, I hear that detector, another CSX detector, and a couple of NS detectors. I kind of miss the NS detectors giving the axle counts. Every so often, the number would be shockingly beg.

I have a radio that's RR only, and when I hear an NS detector in Butler, IN on 160.800, that is my cue that the 2M band is open.

Most I've ever had was 724 axles.

172 cars and 6 motors (12,000 foot long manifest). What a pain in the rear

At least the HBD gave you an "even" numbered axle count. he he he

The majority of the detectors around here, dont give a count unless there is a defect.

Most give a highball and a temp... Theres special problems when you get an inaccurate axle count from a defect detector and we have AEI Readers all over.

I heard and saw 812 once, a CR train, with 7 Dash-8's and a new UP SD-70 in the lead. It crawled past and took forever to clear the crossing. Mostly hoppers but it had some empty stacks on it too. Biggest I ever heard period was 840. I always wondered what it was. That was on NS before the CR split.
