Hello all,

I have my BCD536hp installed into the dash of my Jeep Wrangler. Only the faceplate is visible.

I'm thinking of purchasing the ProVoice upgrade, but getting the serial number out of the device seems to be painful. Is there a way that I can figure out what my serial number is without needing to disassemble my vehicle?

Here is how I see the scanner:

I did find a serial-number-looking thing in scanner.ini on the memory card, but I'm guessing that is the electronic serial number.

It is formatted like this: 37xxx-0ABCDEFGH-xxx

Is the electronic serial number related to the hardware serial number in some way?

It looks like the ESN on my 436 is related, in that the 436 would have serial number ABCDEFGH, given the above format. Does the 536 also follow the same format?

From the instruction page:

* If you cannot physically access your scanner's serial number, Replace the "260" in your ESN with the letter Z. For example: 37626038001234 = 376Z38001234

Also remember that it is the ESN you need to order the ProVoice and DMR upgrades, not the physical serial number.

Sweet. Got it. I went ahead and purchased DMR for my scanner collection as well while I was in there :)

Now I have more things to play with.
