And yet you find ways to spend it on the internet (as opposed to language skills).

We got your message - now move on :).

Call a DM or 800 THE SHACK

Morning all, saw this story and thought I would put my 2 cents in also. I was a radio shack manager for awhile. Here is the way you should handle this: Take your complaint to the store manager, not the sales associate, they will just stall. Tell manager your problem, if he or she dosen't give you satisfaction, ask for the phone number of the district manager, these are horrible words a manager wants the customer to ask. Call district manager and explain your problem, case will be resolved very quickly and manager of the store you were at will be delt with swiftly.. thanks for listing and hope this helps.... Eagle

I am a Radio Shack manager. This guy is right. Do what he says, or call 1-800-THE SHACK. and customer service will notify a district manager. It will get worked out for sure then.

Yes, a company with millions of customers does have some that are unhappy, apparently including you. I have been buying from Radio shack since long before you were born and have mostly positive experiences with them. There are exceptions but there are very few large chains that will take back a purchase within 30 days just because it doesn't suit your needs. No restocking fee or anything. One thing to remember is that without Radio Shack, it's very unlikely we'd have the scanner community we have today. Even though things have changed somewhat, they are still the biggest retailers of scanners in the country.

The great service continues

My Radio Shack Experience

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had some problems with my Pro-2055. It worked perfect for 1yr and 10 days. With the extended warranty I was instructed to call the 800 number on my receipt and they e-mailed me a Mailing Label to return the radio to somewhere in Texas. I was told by RS that I would receive a $200 voucher for the purchase of a new one. It's been about a week. Since my Pro-97 works fine I believe I will add a few dollars to the voucher and buy a Pro-2096 and give the Digital listening a try. My Pro-97 is about 1-1/2 years old. It lost the display on the 3rd day. The Store Manager traded it out for a new one. It has worked great since.

1 week leter

I tried all the tricks. Upload, Download, New Batts, Push the reset, along with some colorful metaphors. Nothing. With the extended warranty I received my $200 voucher/gift card in today's mail.8 day's turnaround. As they have since I placed crystals in my first scanner (1971) Radio shack has come through with flying colors and great Customer Service. Thank You RS.

PS- I went yesterday and bought a RS Pro-2096. Works great.

1 more week later-

Bought my Pro-2096 and found out they went on sale a few days later. I called the store and the Manager told me to come by and she would pay me the difference. The great service continues.

I have some problems with Crista's comments, but it was what was being said not how it was said.

Obviously you and InlandAZ's criticism of Crista's usage of language is discriminatory and indicative of your adherence to a few gentrified sites on the internet. Broaden your horizons gentlemen and you'll find this "new" medium has spawned a new literati, sad to say you are not among their number.

Did you happen to pay by check? If so you must wait a week before RadioShack will issue you a refund (unless you opt to have a check mailed to you by corporate). This would make sense as to why one of the associates you talked to said to come back next week...

If you did pay with cash, did you try going back to the store in the afternoon? Surely they would have enough cash by then to do a return. There is nothing that I hate more then the first customer of the day walk in with a $100+ return who paid with CASH and wants CASH!

And lastly like others have posted, just ask for the DM's phone number, and call him on your cell phone (or better yet ask to use their phone) and call him/her while in the store.. :)

Oh, and yes RS employees do work on commission (but don't think they are making much off your sale, cause they aren't) And really the only people who would try to prevent you from returning it is the original sales guy and maybe the manager from that store. No other associate cares if someone else gets a return. They only care about trying to sell something, and hoping that maybe YOU will buy something from THEM after they return your scanner..

OK, one last thing, I promise, which scanner was it ? Was it an old disco/deval scanner? The other managers might not want to get stuck with an old/ugly/beat up piece of junk. Once a store has something (like a scanner) returned, it's stuck there until someone buys it in the condition it is returned in. So if it has no box, then it is going to be hard to sell to someone else without a box.

OK, I hope this sheds some light into the thinking of RS.
