how do you improve ssb on a 2500

i just bought a aor 2500 on ebay.i hooked it up and programed it and noticed that the ssb is very hard to zero the signal in all you cant hear but garbble when the ssb switch is on is that the way the radio was made or is there something wrong with it.the am side works great its just the ssb.

that antenna sounds pretty good i have a 135 ft long wire in a v at this time is that one your talking about a vertical or a beam.even with a strong signal its very distorted i have a radio shack 403 and the ssb sound alot better.the question i have is do i have a filter problem???

Are you on the correct sideband? Most commercial ssb is upper sideband. Hams use LSB on 40 meters (7MHz) and lower bands but USB above that. It does sometimes take a delicate touch on the tuning.

Try setting the tuning step size to a lower number.
