How do you set up your scanlists on the PSR 500?

I reckon I'm just used to the "old" way with banks instead of scanlists......

For instance I have my first few lists dedicated to Memphis P25

List 1 - Memphis PD

List 2 - Memphis FD

List 3 - Shelby Co. SO

List 4 - Memphis EMS / Hospitals

I set up a friend's Pro 96 this way.....Using up 4 banks and duplicating all the TSYS info in each bank

Right now, I have one county per scanlist--- I generally only listen to FIRE and priority police so effectively I have all other TGs for the county locked out (not optimal for quick reaction).

I loaded up one time with scanlist 1 being my county's FIRE, POLICE in another scanlist, etc. I tried matching the county radio "subsystems" (Fire talkgroups are mostly in "1" - they list them as 1-A, 1-B, etc.), Police in scanlist "11" (11-A northern district, etc.). The problem there is that the entire radio is programmed as one county... if I want to listen to anything else, I have to pull it in from the VS...

Why would you duplicate the TSYS? Why not create *one* TSYS and share it across all scan lists?

Note I'm not a PSR-500 owner, but I have read the manual, and I'm also trying to think about how I would use GRE's OOS differently than Uniden's DMA...

You shouldn't need to duplicate the TSYS or talkgroups on the PSR-500. That's the beauty of the Object Oriented system. You only enter the talkgroups once and share them among all scanlists or systems. Or enter a TSYS once and share it among all the talkgroups.

I'm using mine in Washington, DC and I have the scanlists configured to follow the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments numbering plan for fire radio dispatch. Each scanlist then contains a mix of conventional channels and trunked talkgroups that apply to that jurisdiction:

1- Arlington
2- Alexandria
3- Airports
4- Fairfax
5- Prince William
6- Loudoun
7- Montgomery
8- Prince Georges
9- DC Police UHF Smartzone
10- DC Fire 800 Smartzone

The rest of my scanlists are set up for various utility usage. I have one that just has wildcard talkgroups in it, so if I feel like looking for new talkgroups, I can turn it on. I have another that just has a Spectrum Sweeper object in it, so if I want to look for nearby activity while scanning, I just turn it on. For my Favorites scanlist, I have a very small subset of local talkgroups that I can use if I want a quiet radio, but still know what's going on right in my area. I have a few scan lists that I haven't even used yet.

I have one TSYS ( Memphis Pub Svc) and it is split among the 4 scan lists.....reckon I should've stated that...

On the Pro 96 I had 4 dupe TSYS - one in each bank - with agency specific talkgroups
