I'm arriving into Orlando on May 20. I see on the Patrick AFB site there is a launch. What are the odd that I could pick up one or more of the Patrick AFB trunked sites (or any other launch frequencies) from the airport hotel?
How flat is Florida? ;)

After moving from Miami to CA, I made my personal observations.
The tallest things in Florida are garbage dumps and freeway overpasses.
I love California.
Orlando to Satellite Beach (Patrick AFB) is about an hour. My parents lived about 1/2 mile from the base, and I always flew into Orlando, so I've been there. Can't speak to the reception of the system, though.

Chances of picking up PAFB are slim to none... But Orlando Police should be easily monitored..
If you're going to want to listen to a launch, tune in to 146.940 , the LISATS ham group around here (www.lisats.org) rebroadcasts NASA audio .. Good luck picking it up in Orlando though unless you're really high up in the hotel... They have a good repeater, but not THAT good
