I found some information on the new Houston GA TRS last night with my PRO-96
mapgen

The http://snipurl.com/6qjz link shows this information.

System Name: Houston County Public Safety
Location: Warner Robins, GA
County: Houston
System Type: Motorola Type II Smartnet

My PRO-96 last night displayed the following
The control channel that was active was 860.93750

The following are HEX values...

The Connect Tone was BEE00

The System ID was SY 145

And the tower I was receiving along I-75 was T 0101

That it isn't too bad for a handheld scanner which was not running TRUNKER and a computer to detect all that!

You get a big bang for your buck when you tote a PRO-96! :p

I found the active system with a routine search of the 800 MHz band as I drove along. As soon as I hear a digital data or control channel I store it ina trunking bank and then hit manual to see what I caught. This was the first time I have seen the first part of the bottom line start with 96:

I now know what a 96K APCO sounds like. It sounds nothing like a Mot 36 system!

Houston GA is home to Warner Robbins AFB where allegedly nuclear weapons are located. Therefore it makes sense to install a modern upto date radio system in this area of rual GA.

Vic

Hopefully this web site can use that information to update the database for the Houston GA TRS.

Updated.

Any logged talkgroups?

Linsay I did not see any talkgroups in the half hour I was driving in the area. Once you get up to Bibb County NB you quickly loose this system.

I suspect it has just become active and they are still in the testing phase.
This is the first time I have detected a 9600 baud system in GA.

There are a whole bunch of new systems being installed all over GA and AL. This was a key reason for buying a digital scanner. A lot of people are going to be surprised when agencies they used to listen to disappear almost overnight.

There is a great wide area APECO system they have installed over in Alabama that covers several counties and the Aniston Chemical Warfare Base and Storage Center.
Again a very sophisticated system but what they are protecting is extremely serious stuff so it makes sense to go with the latest and greatest radios immediately because of national security.

I will pass it on as soon as I detect active talkgroups.

>The Connect Tone was BEE00

So they are using a digital tone instead of the 105.88 or others?

>The System ID was SY 145

Does this mean that a standard syskey is not going to work on this one?

That's what the new digital 9600 baud systems use as far as I know....
