If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am having problems loading dmr conventional channels with 4.0 PPS
When I use the RR feature it loads DMR channels fine but when I try to load in a DMR channel manually everything looks good
until I press save then it says No talk group list entered. I don't see anyway I can assign a talkgroup list to a channel.
There must be a step I am missing but I can't figure it out. I need a step by step example of entering a DMR channel into 4.0 PPS

Add frequency to E3-1
Create Protocol on E4-1, remember to create one DMR for slot 1 the other for slot 2
Enter all your TGs in E6-1, then go to E6-2 and create new group, click on the DETAIL block to select the TGs you added in E6-1
Add to a knob position don't forget protocol near the top and at bottom select the TGID Group you created in E6-2

Questions?

I can follow your steps and now believe I can do it, but first I am a little confused so let me ask you some basic dmr questions:
1-I found a frequency searching that I want to monitor, I'll call it "US Taxi" I know the Frequency, Color Code and slot they use but as far as TG's for this channel I see 5 different TG's do I enter all 5 in E6-1? If yes do I need to know every TG on this channel and enter into E6-1 for me to successfully monitor the channel?
2-On my Ham radio (Anytone 878) I just turn on the Monitor mode to any CC, any slot any TG and everything comes in Is there any "monitor" or wildcat mode on the G5 like that?

Yes, all known TGs are entered on E6-1 and included in the E6-2 grouping list.

Set it as monitor mode in E7

Ok Just to be sure I understand this, If I am listening to a channel with 3 TG's and I load only 2 TG's into E6-1 then I will NEVER hear the 3rd TG

OK I will let you know what happens
I got it working! Even though I only enter 1 TG it picks up all the Tg's on the channel.
One more question please: I entered slot 1 as protocol 3 and slot 2 as protocol 4. I programmed my channels as protocol 3 0nly. How do I program the same channel for protocol 4 do I have to create a whole new channel and name it say slot 2?

Yes, you can enter it as a conventional scan and have both on one knob though.
