To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everybody !

I need to program MDC-1200 signaling in my ex600-XLS radio.

My Radio ID needs to be 2801 , is a conventionnal frequency. I also know the ID needs to be sent when i press PTT button.
I also need to decode messages from central who send with MDC-1200.

Somebody is able to tell me what i need to set up and how to set up it ?

Yes, i have the good version of CPS, the programming cable, i program all my conventional frequency and it's working good, but i need to know how to set up MDC-1200 to receive ID when somebody speaks and need to send the id number 2801 when i press the PTT and at the end of the transmit it's supposed to have a sound too.

In your MDC settings, for PTT ID enter "2801". Check the check box for "PTT Sidetone" so the radio will beep when you key up. Check the checkbox for "Decode MDC ID" so the radio will display the other users' MDC id's.

Now, go to the channel you want this to work on and click the third tab over. I forget what it's named. Under TX select "MDC-1" and under RX select "MDC-1". This will make sure you encode and decode on that particular channel. Do this for every channel you want to have your MDC on.

Hope this helps.

This may help:

Setting up MDC –Define an MDC System (You can go back and fine tune later if desired.)

First, create and set up a basic system to transmit an ID.

1) Signaling --> MDC System --> MDC System – 1 --> Basic Tab: Primary ID, type in the ID you want to send. Note: valid MDC ID’s are 4-digit hexadecimal numbers with the following limitations:
a) “0000” is not permitted
b) “F” is not permitted in any digit position
c) “E” is not permitted in the first digit position

2) Still on the Basic Tab --> PTT ID Type: Select Pre-Only or Post-Only (I like Post-Only because there’s no ID sent at the beginning of the transmission so that people who talk too quickly when keying the mic are not blocked out.)

3) If you simply want to decode MDC ID (and your radio is capable of this), Signaling --> MDC System --> MDC System – 1 --> Basic Tab: Check the box for “Display Decode ID.” Also on this tab, if you use PL, check “PL Transmit” too.

4) For now, don’t change any other settings in the MDC System. For a simple send an ID system, this is all you need to do. DO NOT mess with DOS or timing settings unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Now, to point your Personality to the MDC system: Go to the Conventional Personality that you want to send the PTT-ID. On the Signaling tab, under Tx System, select the MDC system you wish this personality to use. Note: You have to use the drop down menu and only validly defined MDC systems will appear. Ignore systems of any other type. Signaling squelch should be set to “OR.”

5) If you desire to only transmit MDC ID and don’t want to decode MDC into an alias, or your model doesn’t have a display, you are done. Test your ID with another radio that has a display and is properly set up to receive MDC ID. You cannot send your ID to another radio that is programmed with the same ID. They ignore each other.

Cannot Write to ex600xls RADIO

I have the cable from the radio to the rib and CPS Ver R06.12.08. I can read the radio but when i try to write to it the error message said must be 12,5 KHz. All the frequencies are set to 12.5 KHz. Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks, Bill.

If the radio has trunking, go in there and look at the repeater bandwidth. Set it to 12.5

LS Trunking --> Site --> LS Trunking Personality 1 --> Repeaters tab If your radio is just conventional personalities, you should have one repeater checked (Can't be deleted) and change the channel bandwidth to 12.5.

This is a well documented and discussed problem with the Professional Series. We've answered the same question a number of times here and on the batboard.

Search tags: The Professional or Waris Series of radios includes:

HT750 HT1250 HT1550 EX500 EX600 EX560 EX650 PR860 CDM750 CDM1250 CDM1550 HT1250LS+ CDM1550LS+ CDM1550LS

It may be helpful to search using wildcards. If someone asks a question about one model, the answer usually pertains to most, if not all. They are all programmed with HVN9025 CPS.

I go it to work by using an older version of the software. I used CCPS R06.12.02 instead. It works fine. I will try your suggestion to find out why the newer software will not write to the radio. Thanks again
