I am new to scanning. There must be an art to this.

I am trying to use the uniden BC125AT scanner to listen to aircraft communications.

The manual is almost impossible to understand. Is there a better way to learn to use this?

Where are you & what do you want to listen to???

Civil Air??
Mil Air??

Programming is simple with the Uniden software. Build lists in Excel & copy & paste into the software.

50 frequencies in 10 banks. As simple as it gets.

You can search the air bands easily.
Press the Func Button then the Srch button. When it starts scanning then press the 1-5 and 8,9,0 keys to turn off those scan search banks. You will be able to search the air bands both 118 MHz Civil and 241 MHz Military.

The 125AT is much, much more rudimentary of a scanner than the more advanced line of Unidens that trunk track and handle digital modes (a la the x36HPs and the SDSx00s). Use Proscan to program your 125AT then get yourself a Radioreference premium subscription so you can import info direct from the database, to Proscan, to your scanner. Makes programming any supported Uniden model a hell of a lot easier, trust me! I've been a Proscan power user for over 10 years.
