need to send HP-1 into Uniden for repairs and want to make sure I have the correct address for Scanner Repair and not some other Uniden Product such as portable phone. Is the address Uniden America, Parts return Dept, c/o Saddle Creek, Roanoke Texas ? also not sure how this is going to work. Do I just send the scanner in with the description of problem, along with a check? Unit out of warranty and not clear of how muich to make check out for. Not sure i want to give credit card information ........

Kevin C, feel better now. that is the site I chose but still in dark about how much to make check out for. I will assume it is the $69.95 amount and they will contact me with the final amount needed to make the repair. Have a great day

the only rate I saw was: Uniden now repairs other brand model scanners. Service fee: $69.95. I never saw a charge for the uniden products. curious where you are seeing the $79.95 price. I thought I looked everywhere. Thank You ..............

So if you really follow the Uniden repair links it shows you should contact Uniden for the repair price for the HP1 scanner. They list the model as WBHP1 on the repair sheet, but when you search make sure you enter the model as HP1 not HP-1, HomePatrol 1 or Home Patrol 1.

$79.95 has recently been the repair price for most Uniden models out of Warranty coverage, but $69.95 has been the price for non Uniden model repair. I think this is because Uniden often replaces face places, bezels, keypads and knobs when they have the parts available. For non Uniden products they do not replace case parts because these are not products they every produced, they just repair the device electronically?

Also keep in mind that there is a return shipping charge you much pay, info quoted from the repair service web pages:

"Important!! Shipping and applicable taxes will be added to these charges. Please include $10 for shipping & handling charges if in the US or $15 for shipping & handling charges if in Canada. International charges will vary. The return information section will show you exactly how to send your product in for repair."

So likely the repair will actually cost you $89.95 if you live in the US. Not sure why the HP1 repair info indicates to contact for pricing, maybe Uniden is dropping the HP1 repair cost due to limited case parts or screens on hand??

The repair cost for the HP-1 is clearly shown by following the link posted by KevinC above, you don't have to contact Uniden for that info.

When you get to the repair page at the above link, click on "Repair Rates".

At the bottom of that page, select "other", and submit.

In the "Model #" box, enter "Homepatrol-1" and click "Search".

They list the model as WBHP1 on the repair sheet,

This is a WBHP1:

Uniden's search for model numbers really sucks is all I can say, I tried EVERY combination other than Homepatrol-1 so this is maybe why the HP1 lead me to the bracket??

Would be nice if someone did a little extra effort on the back end of the web site to support the most common naming or short names that are used. Or better yet, offer a drop box of models. Additionally it would be a bit more obvious if the repair page focused on the Uniden product first, then offered details about repairing non products. But it is what it is. I do agree is it a bit of an effort to find the proper information if you are not really focused and paying attention. My check is it my mother cannot figure it out, it is not done properly!

I guess I was at fault for not digging out a HP1 and looking for the model number in small print on the rear tag or reading the thread from the beginning.

Anyway, there is STILL a return shipment charge that needs to be added to the repair price between $10-$15 depending on where the item is being returned to.

So assuming you live in the US, you are looking at $89.95 for the HP-1 repair and return shipping.

Well, don't know what to say. The model is HomePatrol-1, so putting that in it comes right up. Or putting in just HomePatrol (or even just Home) shows both the HomePatrol-1 and the HomePatrol-2.

I am not seeing this.

If may be browser dependent?

I actually have Home Patrol 1 come up which does not yield a result when I move onto the repair page.

It is possible this is cached info that had been typed for other reasons, like an Auto Fill option in some browsers.

Seems more tricky with the HomePatrol units because it seems that if you put in 996T, 996XT, 396T, 396XT, 15X then hit Search it does a much better job locating info for the product.

The other thing that makes the HP1 a bit different is on the front panel it is only listed as HomePatrol, or at least my HP1 is this way. Not sure if the HP2 has the model number on the front of the radio. All my other Uniden scanners have the full model number printed on the front of the radio as I recall. Minor issue, but it does deviate from the typical practice.

Try typing in just 15 then Search!!!

"Home Patrol 1" (with spaces and no dash) should never come up, as that is not a valid model name.

Model Repair Available Repair Price
HOMEPATROL-1 Yes $79.95
HOMEPATROL-2 Yes $79.95
