HP-2: HP-2 internal memory battery?

I have a HP-2 that I recently installed in the mobile. Every time it powers up, I have to put the time & date back in. Does the HP-2 have an internal battery or does it depend on having AA batteries installed?

I think it may have a cap. It also takes days-weeks - hours - a very long time to Charge.

I have 2 HP1 that will do it and my HP2 does also. I had one repaired at Uniden and it still will do it. It also discharges very quickly and gives the error if the GPS is plugged in and turned off.
None are on AC , one (HP1) is always in the car.
