I have five UHF CDM1250s which have been great radios. I have recently been using them more and am having an issue with one of them powering up. It is requiring 12v to Pin 10 on the connector as if the ignition sense is set in the CPS. However it should be set to turn on with standard 12v power. Here are some troubleshooting items I have tried:
- Replaced ribbon cable connecting head to body. (this radio was used as remote mount for a while and I thought it might be damaged).
- Tried every setting in the CPS related to ignition sense I could find. Including writing with a codeplug from another radio that works "normally".
- It will start normally if I jumper pins 7 and 9 on the back connector. BTW the back connector pins are all set to default in the CPS.
If I apply 12v to pin 10 it will start up immediately. I can then use the front power button to turn the unit on and off even with 12v removed from pin 10 - as long as I don't remove the main power leads. If I do that and totally remove power from the radio I have to apply 12v to pin 10 again.
This is driving me a little crazy. I guess I could just jumper pins 7/9 and leave it be, but would like to get it fixed. All I can think is there is some type of internal component that isn't seeing the CPS setting.
Looking for any advice....thank you!
