I have my HP1 mounted in the car with GPS attached.
Sometimes I get the use gps/ ingore gps choice come up on startup, other times it just goes to ignore gps.
How can I make it always use gps when it is attached?
How can I get out of the ignore gps mode?

make sure

Before you turn on your HP1. Make sure that you turn on your GPS make sure it is powered up and that the connection is a good connect when you turn on your HP1 you get the choise to either use GPS or to not use make sure you hit the right slection.

The way it is setup in the car they both come on with the ignition. The use/ ignore does not always come up. The HP1 sees the gps, but will not always let me choose to use it.Powering down the HP1 & restarting does not seem to help.
Now the last few times everything was fine.

it seems to me if GPS is initialized after the radio initialzes the radio ignores the GPS.
I keep my GPS on hot plug all the time. Never fails to recognize (auto recognition would be nice though).
I think the GPS options page is a bit misleading...You have status but no input capability.

KD8HE that sounds like what it is doing!
I do not use this vehicle every day so the less hot all the time the best.
If I was to power down the HP1 how long would it have to be off to re-initialize to see the gps?

I use a GPS + HP-1 every day. Every day (with rare exceptions noted below) the GPS takes about 20-60 seconds longer to start providing location information than it takes the HP-1 to initialize. The HP-1 never fails to recognize the GPS once it starts providing location-fix data..

Occasionally, the GPS itself fails to ever start providing location-fix data (I can tell because when it is providing such data a red LED on the side blinks once per second). In these rare instances, I have to remove/reapply power to the GPS. Once the red light on the GPS starts its 1Hz blink, the HP-1 instantly recognizes it.

I've tried that several times and my HP will not recognize the GPS after the GPS power is cycled.
The HP continues to stay in "ignore GPS" mode...GPS light is green but status is "Ignore"...
then when i cycle the HP it recognizes the GPS and asks for use selection.
