Interesting problem. Since I had a few minutes just now, I did two things, I set up the PEI EMS folks up in a favorites list on both the radio and in the software. In the software it shows dispatch as 4052-1 but on the radio when I stop it on the Dispatch channel it shows 000-0. The question is what is really in the radio? Obviously I have no way of telling from here since I can't hear it, but 215ax, did you use the Sentinel software at all or did you set everything from the radio?

I am scanning full database and a favorites list that I loaded from Sentinel and both of these contain the EMS info...I have updated everything from sentinel from on line and the scanner works fine.. What do oyou think is going on with the 000-0's? I have everything turned on that I can in the choose types area, I really can't think of what to do next to get the friggin thing to pick up EMS, as I said before I bought this scannner specificially to listen to EMS as I have two other scanners..Any suggestions welcome.... maybe help more than me :)

Ok, I believe either the fleet map or TGID is bad in RRDB. I've tried programming the system and that TGID into a BCD396XT, but the TGID is not allowed there, either.

I just checked my scanner in the advanced tab, and it is the same with all 000-0 in all the integrated sites. I will do a update from this site and reload into scanner again and force a replacement of all files. I have another trunk tracker (BCT8) as well and it faintly picks up the EMS (sometimes) but I believe it is signal strenth problem there. so I am pretty sure the frequencies work.. Sorry but what is a TGID??
Can I actually go into the scanner and change the frequencies, as when I looked there I couldn't see anything that would let me do that.. Is it the primary control channels that you want to see when you are looking in the scanner??? God this was suppose to be easy :-(

A talkgroup is the 000-0 you are seeing listed in the scanner. It shouldn't be 000-0.

My hunch would be bad talkgroups. I would remove those zero's from the first part of the talk groups
(e.g. change 4052-1 to 452-01) try that and see if it helps.

It must have to follow a three digit ,hyphen , two digit format as opposed to the four digit, hyphen, one digit as seen in the database.

I have no idea on HOW TO edit these numbers in the scanner. would it be possible to expain exactly what I have to do accomplish this. When I go to advanced in the scanner i can see that it is showing 0's, but there is no place that I can see in the menu where I can actually change them. As I said before it seems to be 0's in not just the EMS, but everything else that is on the integtrated system. HELP!!

Yes, you are correct, there are some problems there. Indeed I have gone back and looked at the submissions for that system and there is a problem on several of them. I suspect the submitter does not know how to read the scanner he is using to determine them or it is giving bad information. See below

A talkgroup is the 000-0 you are seeing listed in the scanner. It shouldn't be 000-0.

My hunch would be bad talkgroups. I would remove those zero's from the first part of the talk groups

Certainly 4052-1 is an invalid sub-fleet. Indeed (assuming it is correctly identified as something less than a "M" or S-12 type block) then that sub-fleet belongs to block 4. It is reported to be a "A" or S-1 type block so sub-fleets would go from 499-3 to 4100-0, hence 4052-1 is incorrect. It would also be incorrect as 405-21. Since the person who submitted them also submitted incorrectly that the EMS to Hospital sub-fleet was 507-01 when it should be 507-1 it is understandable that maybe his scanner is reporting the incorrect placement (or he is interpreting it wrong) of the "-". I don't know, but most of the information is coming from a person who has been submitting this information since 2009 and has made changes and is obviously listening to the system so I am not sure what is up. BTW 452-01 would also be invalid but 452-1 would be valid...I am not sure what to say except the Regional Admin for that area needs to address this somewhat. I am going to message him and direct him to look at this thread, in case he has no seen it yet.

215ax: Give us some time to look into this, maybe it can be resovlved by the weekend and thus get fixed on the next update to the HP-1 DB.

I'm here a lot
I went to the ScanMaritimes site and found the talkgroups that you are interested in:

Code:
Island EMS Dispatch (1A) [COLOR="red"]452-1[/COLOR]
Island EMS Talk Channel (2A) [COLOR="red"]405-1[/COLOR]
Island EMS Mutual Aid (3A) [COLOR="red"]700-1 [/COLOR]
Island EMS comms with hospitals (4A) [COLOR="red"]514-1 [/COLOR]
Island EMS Backup (5A) [COLOR="red"]424-1 [/COLOR]
Island EMS Backup (6A)[COLOR="red"] 507-2[/COLOR]/[COLOR="red"]505-1[/COLOR]/505-5?
The regional DBA should be able to fix these in our database and as Lou said, they can be downloaded next Monday from Sentinel.

In the meantime, you should be able to add TGs to your favorites list yourself (in the software) and go from there with an upload to the radio.

It would be better if you could verify that those actually work.

ETA: I have not yet heard back from the Regional DB Admin, but then folks have a real life so.. ;)

I will have a look, but not sure exactly what to do, but will try...
Don't bother trying to explain, I have to learn some time...
this forum has been very helpful so far and I am not the only one with problems..
I use this scanner mobile, and have just installed a external antenna in my vehicle
with a big improvement in reception..
I am not really a techie person, so it will be a slow process, as I didn't realize that there is so much
to this scanner that you can change...
But when I update the Monday night I will post my results
thanks again
Paul

Here is a starting point: To edit systems in a Favorites list in Sentinel, start with the "Star with Pencil" icon.

thanks, I have printed off the frequencys above and I will give it a try..
I am running a favorites list now in the scanner with my full database,
so maybe I will try to edit on the computer and upload it to the scanner
Will post any updates that I have.
Thanks again for all your assistance

One more quick question..
Can one actually go into the scanner itself and change the setup or are you better to
do all the work in sentinal and upload it to the scanner??
Thanks
Paul

You can only edit systems in Favorites Lists in the HP-1 itself if you have the Extreme Upgrade.

I'll take a look at that site and get the DB updated with corrected information asap.

Also thanks Lou for bringing this to my attention!

Could someone who knows a few things about Motorola type I trunked systems have a quick look at the subfleets now for Island EMS?

Prince Edward Island Provincial Integrated Communication System Trunking System, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - Scanner Frequencies

I tested a web import using both Freescan and Proscan and they import exactly as I have them in the DB, however Win97 imports the dispatch TG as 4052-1 and the tactical one as 4005-1 which I find very odd, since they're all using the same source data...

I seem to recall the last time I was wrestling with a Motorola type I system, there is a definite difference in the way GRE and Uniden scanners represent subfleets, and the way they will allow you to program them.

Now that Chris is going to fix this I wonder how it is being read wrong by the submitter.

This pattern that I am seeing makes be wonder if I am remembering something from the dim past. Didn't the Pro-92 report Moto Type 1 fleets and sub-fleets in a strange manner on the display? Both of my 92's (and the 2067) are still boxed up from the last move so I have no easy access to them to check that out. I just seem to remember something strange from way back then.

In any case Chris seems to have it well in hand and the HP-1 DB should be correct by the next update. :)

Cache on your computer maybe? My main computer died so I really don't have access to all the programming software right now. You should also check the rest of the TG's since I see others that obviously have the same problem.
