Could someone who knows a few things about Motorola type I trunked systems have a quick look at the subfleets now for Island EMS?

Prince Edward Island Provincial Integrated Communication System Trunking System, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - Scanner Frequencies

I tested a web import using both Freescan and Proscan and they import exactly as I have them in the DB, however Win97 imports the dispatch TG as 4052-1 and the tactical one as 4005-1 which I find very odd, since they're all using the same source data...

I seem to recall the last time I was wrestling with a Motorola type I system, there is a definite difference in the way GRE and Uniden scanners represent subfleets, and the way they will allow you to program them.

Cache on your computer maybe? My main computer died so I really don't have access to all the programming software right now. You should also check the rest of the TG's since I see others that obviously have the same problem.

Wait! The problem is that you still have "0"s where they don't belong. There is no TG 452-01, it is 452-1. Same with the others.

Should be good now. The HP-1 should get the correct talkgroups on Monday.

I'll have to try and remember to do a DB update on mine to see how it handles it :)

For future reference...

A fleet and sub-fleet of 000-0 is valid though you'll rarely see it. A sub-fleet of 0 implies a fleet-wide call; this applies to any fleet but keep in mind it is per fleet (i.e., 101, 102, 000, 001, 002, etc).

Sizecode A is the only one that formats a fleet as four digits due to one digit for partition and three for the fleet. The first digit of a Type I TG is always the partition. Sizecodes are applied per partition. Proper formatting of partitions would be 0-7.

EMS Update

First of all thanks again for all efforts by members of this forum for helping me with my problem with the EMS system here on PEI, Canada

Downloaded the newest files last night into sentinal, made a new favorites list with just EMS and police and this morning tried in in the car. Great news!!! All of sudden here is EMS dispatch showing up in the scanner. The "fix" worked!! A little bit of programming makes the world of difference. Now I can enjoy the scanner for exactly what I bought it for...As I have 2 other scanners for everything else...

Thanks again to everyone who assisted in this fix..

Paul, from PEI

Paul, you can also pat yourself on the back as you are the one that brought this issue to everyones attention. :)

You discovered data that needed correction and Chris and Lou were able to fix things up for us.

It seems to have been a collaborative team effort all round.

It works

I am just so happy that it works. That is all that matters. Just a little tweaking now. Thanks to this forum I am learning more about the scanner each day. I have downloaded the "owners manual" but not really a lot of info there on the inner workings there..
Correct me on this statement if it is wrong please.....
. When I change the range to 0 then the scanner ( mobile),it will just basically have unlimited range from where the vehicle is located, but if I set the scanner at lets say 10 miles then it scans looks at a 10 mile radius of the center of the postal code that i have set???
If this is true you are better off leaving the range at 0 when using it in the car as it will pick up different transmissions as you move as long as you have the full database loaded?

I have to use postal code which is fine becuase auto does not pick up my location nor does city
Thanks
Paul

Um, no. If you use location based scanning and set the radius in the radio to zero, then it will pick up those agencies that are in the local area based on what is set in the database here. In other words if your radio is within any of the circles set up based on those entries in the DB, then it will be selected to be received. Those circles of agencies which do not include where your radio is, are ignored. If you set the radius in your radio to something other than zero, then your circle is overlapped with the ones in the DB and any agency within any of those overlaps is selected to be received.

If you don't use location based scanning, then all location information is ignored and anything that you are scanning is selected to be received. In other words, anything you have in your currently selected favorite list(s) or entire database is scanned, even if happens to be across the country.

As I think I mentioned earlier, I don't use location scanning when I am at home with the HP-1, I just scan the favorite list I set up for "Home", which includes those agencies / channels that I want to hear when at home. Some of those are local, some are considerably further away than would be picked up using location based scanning. When I have the radio in the car, I use a GPS unit and just change the selected list to the entire database and let the radio handle what I am near.

Range settings

Thanks guys.. Been busy for the last couple of days. Saw the lastest posting and will read the links in regards to how the HP1 looks at range..Currently I do have it set with the postal code and range at 0 and have a very small favorites list with just RCMP, EMS, City Police (Charlotteotown) Charlottetown airport, and with the limited time I have been in the vehicle trying to verify reception, everything seems to be working very well. I am able easily to pick up both RCMP Charlottetown, Summerside and Montague, Montague was always unable to be received clearly before. I am able to recieve all the ISland with RCMP now so the sensitivity of the HP1 seems very good.I am running a wide range mobile antenna from Durham , I thing 30-1300mhz, which really works well. As I basically work 6 days a week it is hard to get the time to test and make change and then have the time to listen to the results, but I am getting there.
I really am so happy that now EMS works that all the rest just a bonus.Just have to figure how to mount the little HP1 somewhere now to make it easier to see what is going on while driving. I will continue to read the post and try to learn as much as I can so that maybe I can help someone else if they are having issues.
Thanks so much again for everyone's help.
Have a great day
Paul from PEI
