HP-1: HP1 stopped receiving

Well I have been using my HP-1 for 2 years now with no issues until suddenly, about 2 weeks ago, it stopped receiving anything. The SD card has been formatted and reloaded with favorites list, audio beeps work in screen pressing buttons, but the scanner will not stop on a channel and receive audio. As if the antenna is not connected. I even tried the eset button on the back to no avail. Has anyone had their HP1 suddenly stop receiving?

Not receiving weather either. Im afraid something might be toast inside.

Have you tried a different antenna? Take a look at the center pin of the antenna and check if it has broken off. It is quite possible that the antenna has a problem.

Has it been dropped in such a way that the antenna connection took a hit? Also, look at the antenna connection. Is the center pin still attached to to the antenna itself, or has it broken off? (same as what tvengr was suggesting)

Has your scanner, or at least it's antenna (if using an external) been close to another transmitting radio (ham, public safety, or cb)?

If the center pin on the antenna looks OK, try sticking a piece of thin wire into the center of the antenna connector on the radio. Do not force it. About 15 inches long would be good for weather. That should tell you if the antenna is OK. It will work OK for UHF and 700/800 Mhz also. If the center pin of the antenna is broken off, it will probably be left in the center of the connector on the radio. If the end extends from the connector, you can remove it with a pair of tweezers or small long nose pliers. Be very careful not to push it into the connector. If it is flush with the connector, you have a problem.

Make sure Squelch is at two and your attenuation is off. If that doesn't work it is either the antenna or it needs to be repaired.

Thanks for the replies, I tried everything suggested to no avail. I wonder how much it would cost to be repaired? Maybe cheaper to buy a replacement.
