BCD436HP/BCD536HP: HPDB?

My question is. When selecting 'Corrections' on my 436HP, I only get an analog correctional system 160mi. away, and in another state. Why is that?

What system is it? What is your range set to for location scanning? What zip code are you scanning?

Because your doing something wrong. These are all items tagged corrections in the HPDB within a 10 mile range of 27228

This theoretical prison that is 160 mi away from your theoretical county is probably the only prison in the area. You provide no details for anyone to provide any insight.

Did you create this with “edit on range”? I think we should suggest this more to people that are struggling to create their first FL.

Is it because your 436 is not DMR/NXDN enabled? NC Dept Corrections looks like a NXDN system?

The system is moot. The range is set to 50mi., so why am I getting a system at 3x the distance. I put in my home zipcode

Going through what you listed, I get:

NC VIPER
Alamance County(Digital only, I turned off the analog system)
NC DPS(I need to activate the NXDN key)
Cary/Wake25(comes in no problem)
DOC(I turned off 'Corrections' in the HPDB, but that only ignores the problem)
Keep in mind. Apart from those I programmed personally. I am not getting any of the above from the HPDB database

Don’t get too trusting on the Range settings… they are approx, and are affected by the terrain, power output of the agencies programmed and other factors.

Yes on the add channels on range. I am surprised it do not see more threads about it but it is by far the quickest and easiest way to get everything of listening interest into a favorites list. I use it every time I am traveling to an area new to me. Once done, I go in and review everything it imported and I remove anything that may be noninterest.
I also use it when providing help in the forums to see what the OP's are seeing on their end.

Everything I posted is from the HPDB running the latest update. And that was done with a 10 mile range from zip code 27228. So if your saying your not getting any of the above, what exactly does that mean? How are you not getting? When doing zip code search with just corrections enabled? They do not get imported or you just don't receive any audio. Lately in these forums, information is extremely vague.

How would that ignore the problem? With that service type off, you would not receive anything tagged Corrections. That would contribute to the problem of not receiving corrections.

Actually it's quite the opposite. If your range is set for 50 miles, and the range on the moot system is larger than it actually needs to be, and its range overlaps your 50 mile range, it's going to try to scan. If you provide what system it is, further explanation may be able to take place.

There is still stuff in the DB that has ranges way to large. Range should more or less cover the intended area of operation.
