One good thing about Broadcastify Calls and SDRTrunk is you can just enter a wildcard/talkgroup range and it will feed everything you receive on the system, even new talkgroups not in the database. I do this method rather than importing a large list of talkgroups.
I do like the idea that he said maybe that could help with the signal problem

Small update, I found my box of filters and added an HPF before the SDR, seems to have helped some, getting lots more messages in SDRTRUNK, and its holding the lock on the control channel better.

Interesting, how do I do that?

Maybe you can tell me why I only see "calls" from HRM Fire on my node, when I have the entire HRM group(all tgs) as my primary channel?

Also, When I create the Channels from RR import, I set it with Control & Alts :

Do I need to select All instead, or maybe control only?? How are yours set?

I think I got a wildcard figured out. Starts at TG 0 and stops a 65000 whatever lol.
Yep, that's the way to do it. 65535 is the highest possible channel number.

I use control only as I've never seen the alternate become the main control channel on either of the sites I monitor. If you have a weak signal and it drops out, it will scan back and forth between them if using control and alternates, it seems to lock on a bit faster if you just use control only.

Interesting, I will give it a shot with just the CC. Thanks @rhughes6.

Hey guys, so the antenna is cut and re-wired, and I added a second SDR. So far it seems to be capturing pretty well, but may still need some tweaking, wish there was more non-encrypted traffic right now lol..its non stop.

The good? thing is my actual scanner is working much better now, and is picking up pretty much full transmissions, which means I am getting a mostly complete data link, so the SDRs should be able to catch it all too if I get the manual gain settings right.

And since I'm here, anyone know what TEARDOWN means?

Yes I saw that, I figured you would like that! I was starting to wonder why I wasn't seeing it at all, hopefully we will see more activity now with the changes I made today.
Yes you are right I do like it and I was wondering that too !

I even see the Airport Fire. They seem to be cool as well.

Teardown happens when a voice channel is no longer in use. If you're seeing it stay there it's a known issue. Try version 0.6.1 Beta 2 of SDRTrunk. It seems to solve the issue with it staying in teardown.

In your screenshot it looks like your noise floor is pretty high. I've had good luck by turning down the master gain until I lose signal, and then turning it up 1-2 levels. I haven't needed to play with any of the other gain settings.1729969978448.png

Thanks again @rhughes6, I'll give the setting/config another go as you suggested. I more or less did that, but didnt get a decent lock on the CC until I cranked everything way up, but I was in a hurry (wife was on my ass to get some other things done lol). I was thinking I might put a HP filter back inline, see if that cleans up the noise a bit.

Ok, so I got the version updated so no more Teardown, and I've got the tuner settings like yours in the screenshot, only adjusting the master, and my noise floor is definitely lower, but its seems like it needs to be at its max to get a somewhat consistent CC lock. Should I be able to keep a lock on the CC at all times? With these settings it drops out or goes idle a fair bit, which does not seem ideal?? But maybe that's normal/expected?

Yes. If you lose lock, you're not decoding or able to receive calls.

It sounds like you may not have a sufficient signal overall if you're having to push large amounts of gain to receive a lock.

Ok, that's what I thought. So either I go full blast on the settings, or get my antenna up higher, and or upgrade it to a Yagi.
