• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it MODS. Anyway, Ive been working with 1250's for a few years now, I am very proficient in programming and fixing most problems that will arise with the 1250, however, this one is throwing me for a loop. About 2 weeks ago my front keypad "stopped working" I say it like that because, if I turn on the radio and press the menu button, it will go to a random sub folder, today it seems to be scan lists. I cant navigate anywhere else other than there. Sometimes it will bring me to a different folder, sometimes not. Once in a while the up/down buttons will work for a second or two. I can't really decide if this is a hardware or software issue, I did re-flash to an older code plug and it did not rectify the situation. I dis-assembled the radio down to individual components and re-assembled it to check for bad connections, again with no success. Any ideas? New keypad maybe?

Off the bat it sounds like a flex or case issue to me. Open up the radio and re seat the flex, see if that fixes the problem...

The problem you are describing is most certainly a hardware issue rather than a software issue...

Do the PTT and side buttons work fine? Those are on a different flex than the rest of the buttons.

It sounds like a hardware issue with the actual keypad board to me. The keypad board should connect to the display module via a short flex cable, and that is where I would start. Reseat that flex cable, and also look for any signs of damage to the flex. If there is no visible damage and it still doesn't work properly, I would replace the keypad board and the rubber keypad membrane.
