• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

That is the Vehicular Adapter firmware. There should be an option number 2 below it, titled H5177R, which is the HVN9025 programming software that you need. If it isn't there, send Motorola an email, as they may not have given you full access. The CPS is $299.00

That's the great part about Motorola. The software actually programs the HT750, 1250 and 1550, EX500 & 600 and the CDM mobiles (maybe some more), and is usually sold to shops that charge to program (I've seen from $40 per radio to $1 peer channel quoted on here recently) so you can see where the cost is recovered quickly in most applications. The other fun thing is that the licensing agreement prohibits you from selling (or even giving away) the software once you are done with it, so it's yours for perpetuity.

You will also need a programming cable, which is $63.00 from Motorola, but you can get a decent aftermarket cable on eBay much cheaper. If you need it programmed, send me a PM.

The Part number of the software itself is HVN9025. The H5177R package includes HVN9025, the Waris Pro Trunking software, and a RIB-to-Radio cable for the Waris portables (note that this cable alone is NOT enough to program the radio - if you don't have a RIB you need a ribless cable)

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but if you are programming more than a few radios, more than a few times, get the original Moto cable. If all you're doing is programming one or two every once in a blue moon, take a chance on a aftermarket.

1250 cble

I have two aftermarket cables. one has 3 pins and one has 4, both are supposed to be for the ht1250. The rib cable is what, comport cable? one has comport and the other is direct usb. neither one of them recognizes the radio in the softwre i do have. I will try to find HVN9025 software. thanks
