• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You have "Alert Tone Fixed Volume" off, and what do you have for "Alert Tone Constant Boost"?

Check "Alert Tone Constant Boost" and set offset to 0, and see if that's what you want. If you need the tones louder, go up, etc..

What exactly is your use case, here? There's no "right" setting, it will entirely depend on what you want to have changed from the default settings...

between the plastic cover and the LCD panel? Moisture inside any electronics is bad. I'd pull them apart and give them some time in a dessicant or a low humidity, temperature controlled proofing oven (I stick to about 90deg F to avoid warping the plastic) to get as much out as you can, and then I'd start to look at how it got in.

Is the gasket in good shape (and what color is it?), have you had it apart? Did it swim recently? What environment is it used in? Has it been recased? Is it an OEM case?

You can get one of those cheap film universal phone covers and stick it over the plastic if you are that worried about it, but those screens are not exactly spring chickens.

You get condensation inside the plastic screen when you talk? :unsure:A remote mic would help that, but I still think that case is poorly sealed.

I've had some hot & heavy close talkers on my old system and only ever saw condensation inside a case when it took a bath, or spent 2 years in a shrub outside of our headquarters.

If it's a non-oem case, I would suspect poor fitment (or even missing gaskets) at the gasket mating surfaces. There is also a very soft foam (rubber?) gasket that would surround the outer edge of the LCD screen, might be missing or torn if it was recased w/ chinesium parts.lcd screen.jpg

...not my picture.
