Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I recently programmed my HT1250 and am experiencing trouble with the scan function. When I have the scan system feature ON, regardless of what channel I switch to, my Ch.1 always displays the name on the screen. When I have the scan system feature OFF the channel regular channel name appears. It seems the Ch.1 or priority channel always reverts when in scan mode. Any idea on what I am doing wrong programming wise? Thanks.

Possibly, in the scan list, the first channel is set to "Personality 1", this makes the priority channel always ch 1.
Set the first ch to "Selected", this will make the selected channel the priority.

scan

Just a note make sure you did not take it out of the scan list. You have to go to your scan list but under the TX CONFIGURE tab you have to change that to <selected> . This is what makes the radio do this. If you done this under the LIST tab you took your channel out of scan. Just my 2 cents !

Without looking at the codeplug,I would say the USER PROGRAMABLE box is not checked in the first tab of the scan list page. This would not alow the user to edit those lists. I have had to do this to some HT1250 we have because some of the guys don't understand the radios they use and no matter how many times you teach them.
