• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

How do I update the firmware on a HT750? Where would I find the most current firmware for this radio?

You will probably need to buy a cable and / or an interface, as well as software, directly from Motorola. It might actually be cheaper and easier to just take it to a local Land Mobile Radio dealer. I seem to recall, while researching my own Moto CP 200, that one would wind up spending $200-300 dollars by the time you get everything one would need. Of course, once you've done so, you can aquire and maintain additional radios, so, there's a trade-off I guess. Good Luck!

You will need the software, a programming cable, and firmware flashing adapter, and of course the firmware. The question that immediately (at least to me) comes to mind is why? HT750 really doesn't have any improvements to speak of in the newest firmware. Is it some specific issue you are trying to resolve in this end-of-life radio?

Thank you! I had noticed that the original poster had not gotten any responses, so, decided to chip in with what little I "thought" I knew. By the way, the HT 750 is still a major part of my employer's private land mobile installation, however, they are not using any of it's more advanced features. In fact, due to competition among employees for the remaining useable radios, I started bringing in my own Baofeng cheapie. Has a part 90 tag. Works well enough in this situation. I also have my own CP200, but no software yet. I'm wondering what the cheapest way would be to set to program my CP 200?, or, should I just keep using the Baofengs?

Software is $265. Cables are $20 for cheapie USB; good ones are considerably more. If you are only going to have it programmed a couple of times, take it to a radio shop or see if you can find a fellow ham in the area who has the software. Typical programming costs for a shop are $30+.

I maintain an inventory of CP150's, 200's, 200XLS's, and a PR400 so I have the software and cables on hand but it's a long drive for you.

Thank you Steve, Good info & advice. Will try the local ham club first, there is also a Motorola dealer nearby.
