Sunday, September 1: The DMR Brandmeister 3199 talkgroup, labeled Hurricane Net, has been activated for Dorian. I'm hearing periodic announcements but no traffic yet.
Anyone with a Apple (ios operating system)(andriod too) phone should type in " Joe & Joe" show. Joe Rao/Joe Cioffi are both from Metro NY/LI/NJ(Fios 1) and they really have a great application. You will get great updated on this and they also have a show on Facebook too every week night.A little bit of humor during these tense and uncertain times. I don't intend to offend of upset anyone. My sister lives in central FL and like you I'm concerned for her safety, lets hope for the best. At least people have plenty of time to prepare hurricanes, unlike many other wrath's of mother nature!
Fort Lauderdale Area Amateur Repeaters having a net now and use broadcastify to listen
After Harvey hit Texas there was quite a bit of National Guard activity on VHF Low Band:
36.100 - Helos
51.650 - Helos
51.700 - Helos
51.750 - Helos
52.000 - Helos
54.500 - Helos
60.500 - Helos
Yes. Most military traffic in the 30-88 MHz band will be FM (not FMN).Will these be FM mode?
Speaking of Helos a CBP UH-60 N72760 arrived Homestead yesterday to stage there
from Puerto Rico. May catch later this week moving North I think they use Fed band
but still will hear on local ATC maybe using OMAHA ## callsign.
Sharp looking Helo. No missing this chopper in the neighborhood
