HX370S not working properly after sitting

Hey all, newb here. I have an HX370S that we bought years ago ('05-ish?) for emergencies on the water as a backup to cell comms. After years of sitting on a shelf, I dusted it back off to use in the same capacity with a new boat. Battery shows 7.8v but the radio will only go between WX and 16/9 and only on the charger. Any ideas what's the issue? I'd love to fix it rather than replace it. Thanks a lot!

If it only works when it's sitting in the charger, the battery is shot. Not unexpected after 20 years.

I'd replace the battery first, then test it again.
