i can't scan in town

when i have my scanner on at home it will not pick up in this county but it will in all others i have a bearcat bc350a can any one help?

you should have no problem because jefferson county is all non trunking 800 except for an ltr system.

ok thanks alot everyone i just got my fire pager and now i can listen to jefferson county i guess the radio frequency's cross and comes out on my scanner
