• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have mototrbo cps 2.0.151.292.0. When I try to read it, it says "error code #101005, code plug not supported. I tried to hit the update button, but it says, no packages found. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Youre trying to use new software with what's likely old firmware. You'll need the upgrade package if you want to upgrade the firmware

You're looking for S01.17.08, not sure if it's on MOL or if someone here would be able to share it

You would need CPS 16 in order to read the radio in its current state, then try to update using CPS 16 to something closer to ancient, even if you can't get to S 01.17. The S 01.17 was a special release to fix an audio issue, the R 01.16/17.xx should still work. Once you're into the realm of new enough, you should then be able to read it/change it/write it with CPS 2.0

If you're paying someone else to do it, it's rarely worth it. If you take it on as a learning project, then maybe it's worthwhile, but you've made the radio less desirable to 90% of the folks who would rather have the radio still using CPS 16.

If you need to get CPS16 to start with, I'd just stay with CPS16 for that unit, but that's me. I avoid using CPS2 for nearly everything except new radios.

I use CPS 14 for my older Mototrbo, XPR6550 and older.
You can update the firmware to the latest for this radio, firmware files are fairly easy to find on-line. (I probably have that.)
After upgrade, then you should be able to read the codeplug if not locked, or start a new one from scratch.
Mototrbo is all trunking, so you will need authorization for a given site(s). You can program conventional channels, and there are some ham fixes for amateur.
but it says, no packages found.
That is because you don't have the needed firmware files on your PC where CPS can find it.

This was a bit of learning curve for me, but I have a couple working codeplugs, and the radio is nice.
