As posted above, I think I am just about ready to buy a Uniden SDS100. Can anybody suggest any good places to get it from or places to avoid? It looks like many places have it at $650 with free shipping, plus Minnesota sales tax in my case. Anyway, does anybody have any discount codes, etc., to bring the price down a bit right now?

Also, I will likely get the Butel software for it. I have always enjoyed Gommert's products and really like the ability to do unattended logging to see what activity there was in my absence.

While I have no need for ProVoice, I am get both DMR and NXDN upgrades. Is it best to simply get those direct from Uniden.com?

Buy from a place that you can return it from without much trouble, locally if you can. Sure you can buy online and save sales tax, but when you have to return it once you find out you don't like it, then it's a pain.

Don't buy any of the upgrades until you get it and decided you want to keep it and it works correctly on systems in your area if possible.

I bought my SDS200 from gigaparts, googled a bit and found a $10 off coupon. Not huge, but...

Your best place(source) to buy the SDS-100 is Bearcat Warehouse and their toll free number is 1-877-568-7226 and free shipping and no sales tax except in Maryland. Ask for Paul on Monday. He's the MOST knowledgeable person there. They have fresh stock and no re-packs. Hope this information helps you. They also have a return window too. This SKU and also the SDS-200 are "price fixed" meaning retailers are NOT allowed to discount it.

Bearcat Wharehouse also offers an extended warranty for I think $30 or $40 so that makes a 2 year warranty. Not a bad idea since these units seem to have more problems than previous models, you will be covered for a full 2 years w/ the extended warranty.

I'd recommend purchasing it from a local vendor. Folks seem to always overlook the local guy to save $10, then have a meltdown when the local guy goes out of business and can't understand why.

Purchase your DMR and other keys from Uniden's website direct.

That’s not a bad idea however you must consider that not everybody lives in an area where a local vendor is an option.

As close as you can :)

For me, I usually deal with HRO. They have been good to me. A few bumps, but they have always made things right. Closest location is 2 hours from me. Close enough for a Saturday drive if I wanted to get out of the house for awhile.

If you order from Bearcat warehouse order the SMA Remtronix antenna. Makes a world of difference on 800 MHz trunked systems. My RSSI went from -90 to -45 by changing the antenna.
