Sounds scary. You able to monitor it? I'm in and out and missing some of it but have the whole thing on my live feed currently. "South Eastern Indiana SAFE-T"

From WTHR out of Indy: Shelby County - Emergency crews are responding to a serious crash on I-74 at this hour.

The crash occurred in the median at mile marker 116.

A Lifeline medical helicopter was requested to the scene.

Ummm, yeah, I'm hearing everything, ISP, PD, Fire. med, lifeline and media. I just heard a couple minutes ago that lifelines patient isn't looking good. I hear everything for about 70 miles in every direction from home.

I'm downtown Edinburgh which is just south west of center of Shelbyville and picking up pretty good also. 116 mile marker WTHR said.

WTHR was also headed to another accident at 25th & Post. Now worrying about the weather headed though Hamilton Co and headed my way. Looking at GrLevel3 it shows clouds from 13k to 54k feet and 1.75" hail. May get some good pics soon!
BTW, I normally pick up around 24 SAFET sites, 32 on a good day. Conventional channels as far as Ohio on normal days.

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - State Police have shut down a stretch of I-74 westbound after one person was killed in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. at the 116 mile marker in Shelby County.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Odd, according to police, fire and lifeline there were two vehicles..... wouldn't be the first time the media didn't show or mention two vehicles or more though. I was at a fatal wreck and the media went on and on about the car that the driver had been killed in, only problem was the the driver of the truck died not the car. And the driver of the truck of a heart attack, not the crash. The driver of the mangled car walked away.... leave it up to the media.

Oh, and the storms that came through did some damage today. One barn 3 miles West of me burned after a lightning strike. Another strike across the street hit our power lines knocking out the neighbors phones, satellites and TV's. It also took out my well pump and two TV's.
Station 71 (Buck Creek) and tankers from 8 (McCordsville) and 3 (Fortville) assisted at the scene of the barn fire. Units are just now clearing the scene.

I'll tell you what's odd...I listened to the incident live this morning and again on the archives and no one says anything about two vehicles.

In fact, in Medic 2's patient report to lifeline he clearly states "There was a fatality in the same vehicle".

I guess we will have to agree we disagree because I know Lifeline reported to the hospital the fatality was in a seperate vehicle. And ISP also mentioned the same thing as did fire personell. Really doesn't matter to me either way, I had other things that took precidence and stopped listening to the crash with the storms that moved in here as well as taking a friend and her baby to the hospital..... some things just kind of trump others in importance so I didn't hear the rest of it.

Note in my very first post here "Fatality in same vehicle (10:11 EDT)" I don't think I ever heard anything about a second vehicle during the chaos of the initial dispatch. :)

Yup, I know :D

Turns out it was a blown tire that made the driver of the van loose control. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

Just one of those "In the blink of an eye" tragedies. I've heard the seatbelt argument go both ways. Sometimes they save ya....sometimes they are actually a bad thing.
