I went to use my radio last night and see what is going on SSB, and noticed all my voice keys were greyed out. The labels were correct, but I couldn't use them. I pulled the card out, and I could hear the recorded clips for each key, but could not write to the card. I tried many things, including diskpart via command line, and some hard drive partition managers. Nothing would lift the write lock (its not the physical lock switch, I checked that). The IC-7300 would format the card, and memories were removed and formatted correctly, but it was still locked. I re-recorded a voice key, and couldn't use it, but it saved to the card. I even tried using the unload menu from the radio, nothing.

I think the card is gone (I ordered another one), but was hoping someone would have an idea. This was a nice new (3 month old) SDHC Class 10 Sandisk card.

It is a rarity but it does happen. Pulling the card before properly unmounting or properly ejecting them is one reason.
I had this happen with a 64 GB USB that was 3 weeks old. Sandisk replaced it pretty fast.

Yea, I will open a warranty case with Sandisk. We were winding down a Zoom meeting with the radio club when I noticed it. One other guy said it happened more than once to his card, but had no idea how to unlock it either. I was hoping someone would have a fix.

I always unmounted it, or completely powered off the radio before removing the card. It was working for Winter Field Day, but I haven't used the card for anything since then but to update to 1.40 (which recommend).

Another device to have backup cards on standby for........

Ok, so I figured something out, and the card isn't locked at the moment. I still can't get the voice keyer to work:

What is it doing or not doing? Nothing happens when you push the buttons....or.....?
No, it beeps, but doesn't transmit the saved voice clip. It used to, and it was a great way to not tire myself out instantly.

Yeah, I use mine all the time. So can you edit the existing ones or record new ones? Does it let you do that?

Correct. New recordings, new names, power cycle the radio, still won't transmit them. I can even listen to the recording, but no luck on using them.

Even more bizarre, the CW keyer works, as does the RTTY memories.

I'm trying to think if those pull off the card too, and I think they do. So it doesn't look like it's a read issue.

Last thing I have...does SSB work at all? i.e. using the microphone?

PTT works, but I get no audio from the microphone transmitted, on SSB, FM or AM, but FT8 still works, and recording a new voice TX memory works, and I can listen to it.

I just ran some tests with a local on 10M, I'm double checking settings now.

I'm guessing you just updated the firmware? I updated the firmware last weekend, and ran into this exact same problem. I only know of one other person this happened to.

I hate to say, but I don't know what the fix is, other than to restore settings. And in fact, the settings I saved just prior to the update did not work. I had to go back to settings from last year. As soon as I did that and rebooted the radio, everything started working again.

BTW, I don't know if the voice keyer was working or not, as I didn't get that far, but transmit audio on everything except FT8 would not work, exactly as you describe with yours.

Ready to be irritated? I had a local help me troubleshoot it, its a stupid setting:

It was USB (hasn't changed in forever, and worked just fine on Monday Night), but going back to Mic,Acc fixed it. I've been on 1.4 for a month.

:mad::ROFLMAO:(n):poop:

Well, I got my cursing quota over with for the month of May already.......

Ha ha ha ha!!!

Nice! Glad you got it fixed. That didn't work on mine. I worked on the damned thing for about an hour and changed all those settings, but didn't have any luck.

Good deal though! Glad you're back up and running. :D :D
