ICOM uses NXDN and D-star.

Icom don't manufacture any products that use DMR. NXDN and D-Star are their lines. I doubt they will spend money for access to DMR when they don't sell it commercially.

Air490 - ICOM makes P25 work radios, NXDN 6.25khz FDMA-N in their Next Gen iDAS radios, ICOM has multiple amateur radios that transmit and interact with D-star.

Air490 - the AOR DV-10 had Dual VFO, built in GPS and Bluetooth as well. the Uniden and Whistler scanners a inferior except for Trunking Ability. and both AOR nor ICOM have any idea how Trunking works.

FCC issued two certification grants for the IC-R30 on Friday (11 May) - FCC ID AFJ375400 is a version with the notches in the 800 MHz range, and FCC ID AFJ375410 doesn't contain those notches. The AFJ375410 version is intended for government users and export sales, and the label for the AFJ375410 version also has Canadian certification numbers.

HRO hasn't posted this item on their web site yet. Universal Radio claims availability in May or June, but their web site hasn't been updated since the FCC certification was issued. I posted images of the ID labels for the two versions in the other IC-R30 thread in this forum.

ka1nil = completely missing the point. UR is just placing the information, no where to click to order. but its nice of them to give us the info. as HRO has no listing and they are Supposed to be a HAM store.

They are most definitely a seller of amateur radio products as is Universal Radio. Yes it is a placeholder page so to speak I am guessing HRO will have a page for it closer to the release or if and when they have it in stock.

I like the icom IC-R30 a lot but it seems to have very limited digital reception, P25 phase I, NXDN, D-star, DCR compared to the Yeasu AR-DV10 which has D-star, Alinco, Yeasu, D-CR, NXDN, DMR, dPMR, TETRA, GMSK and C4FM. looks like the DV-10 is the one to beat.

HRO Anaheim just called me and has three IC-R30 radios in stock. No software available yet from them (CS-R30) and I believe no NXDN on radio until a further software update. I may consider this radio but am waiting to hear reviews from others.

Well it's being marketed as having NXDN support. If this doesn't have NXDN out of the box then ICOM should be ashamed -- and buyers should return the scanner until it does.... IMHO.
