ic-r5 software help

just got r5 and software from blackbag.com, everything works ,have freq. list loaded(city channels ic5), read/write radio-write radio-0pen file and get"the radio must be in NORMAL mode in order to write to the memory( im taking for granted that normal is power on), push ok and get "input file for different radio"--can someone help me please? the learning curve on this is steep and the help section is basic.

I have the IC-R5, but I'm not sure that I have the same software that you do. I have the Icom CS-R5 software. I seem to recall an odd problem like the one you are having. If I remember correctly, the way I got around the problem was to Read from the radio with the software, then load the data files into the program and write them to the radio. You might want to make a copy of what was loaded into the radio before you write something else to it. The short wave frequencies would be an example. You might not need or want them at the moment, but entering them into the software would take longer than loading them from a file.

thank you very much,after 2 weeks of pullin my hair out it worked. my wife makes me put money into mason jar for cussin in the house and this last week i was puttin foldin money in before i sat down in front of computer(i was out of quarters!). again thank you.........
