• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Do you have version "3.1" or "3.1 MM"? That "MM" might be the issue if you do not have it. Many of the new Icom F50v transceivers have the MM firmware (which I think includes 3.6) which requires the "3.1 MM" software to program. Check with your dealer to see if you can get a newer version of the software from them.

Also take a look at this thread. Sound about exactly what you are dealing with: http://forums.radioreference.com/icom-land-mobile-radio/314371-ic-f50v-programming-issue.html

It's an Icom thing...

The 'Home Company' has two versions of F50V software. Both will read any radio.

BUT TO WRITE you need the software version with the same number of digits as the radio firmware.

CS-F V3.x.x will read but not write radios with FW ver v3.x
CS-F v3.x will read but not write radios with FW ver 3.x.x

Hope this helps. KB-D34C586555 is marked dealer access only as it includes dealer access to the software downloads on icom's B2B site. The following is from the .pdf file stating which version of CS-F to use. The .pdf may not be available on the public KB at icomamerica.com.

F50V Software and Firmware Compatibility.pdf

There is new software for the F50V series radios. The firmware in the radio determines which software is compatible with the radio. The versions for the new software and firmware are designated with three digits, not two as in older versions e.g. v3.1.1, not v3.1.

Important: Software that has a three digit version is not compatible with firmware with a two digit version; Software with a two digit version is not compatible with firmware with a three digit version.

What Software and Firmware to Use

Current radio software and firmware:
Software CS‐F50V MM v3.1.1 or greater uses firmware FL3060A v3.6.2 or greater.

Older radio software and firmware:
Software CS‐F50V v3.1 or less uses firmware FX3060B v3.6 or less.

Check Your Firmware
To determine which software your radio is capable of using, check the firmware.
1. Press and hold the Up Arrow and P3.
2. Switch the power on.
The display will show the firmware version.
You can also check the radio firmware version from the cloning software at the Clone ‐> Information window.
