Hello everyone,

I have an Icom IC-718, it is new, and I've noticed something that I'm not sure is normal.

When the volume control is turned almost all the way down, or just as I begin to increase the volume from the minimum position, I can hear a small "click" or popping noise from the speaker. After that, the radio works normally and the sound is clean.

Is this normal behavior for the IC-718, or could it indicate a problem with the volume potentiometer or the audio circuit?

I'd appreciate hearing from other IC-718 owners.

Thank you!

You have the squelch engaged - do you get the click advancing the volume control when the SQL is backed off (i.e. open)?

Thank you very much for your help.

The position of the squelch control makes no difference to the noise. The clicking noise is present regardless of the squelch setting.
