Icom IC-F24 Programming Help (Newbie)

Hi All,

I have gotten my hands on 3 Icom F24 Transceivers (Least I think that's the correct term for them) I also have cloning/programming software (CS-F14 Rev. 1.2) Which I believe is the correct software for this handset, The programming cable is an ebay type that is changeable for different makes and models (Ebay item 190811579007).

However when I start up the software, turn on the radio it will not read from the handset instead I get the attached message (Photo). I had thought it might have been the cable, but when I check the information it gives me the serial number of the radio connected to it, so perhaps the cable is correct too,

I have read though a number of forums and they suggest it could be older software or old firmware on the radio itself, I'm a bit of novice to all this and don't know how I'd go about upgrading the firmware so any help would be much appreciated,

My laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit

Were you ever able to successfully get this software to program your radios? I think your issue is with the COM port that the computer is automatically assigning your cable. I had to manually change mine to COM1, which happened to be available on my machine at the time.
