Hi there.
I'm interested in buying the machine but I'll probably be forced to use it under linux OS (ubuntu).

The software included works correctly in windows emulation? Somebody perhaps has already tryed it?

There is some other software for the PCR family that is specifically designed for linux?

Thanks for the help.

beholder ... if you're running a recent Linux 2.6 kernel - the built-in USB drivers will work with the radio (yeah, I was suprised too). in your case - Ubuntu "Feisty Fawn" should work. The radio will appear as an additional USB serial port (eg. /dev/ttyUSB0). If you scrounge around - there are some free open source programs for the PCR1000 that will provide basic functionality for your PCR1500.

Search Google, Yahoo!, sf.net, or freshmeat.net for "pcr1000 linux"

I saw one app written in python that looked decent. I doubt the linux drivers recognize the radio's USB audio capability but at least you can control the radio from Linux.

The above should apply equally well to the PCR1500 and PCR2500 models.
