Tempting but since I have a R30, I’ll pass. Hoping Icom is working on a R30 replacement.Main trading has this radio on Black Friday for $409.
Got it today, looks great, got it charging right now. When you get it, let us know the condition. Never heard of repack before. Sounds like another name for refurbished.
Indeed or even 339.Someone let me know when it hits $300.
I'm glad I read this! I didn't like the R6 at all since in the city there is quite a bit of interference. That coupled up with some reviews I read here, seems like it's best to stay away.I had the R-15 but sold it. I just got an R-6 sport and I really like it better. wider band coverage better reception, the mens are not as easy to use and the displ is not as nice, but, the cost difference makes it better for me.
Better reception on what frequencies? It's been widely reported that the R-15 has better reception on VHF Air and Rail.I had the R-15 but sold it. In my opinion, yes - but I'm also making heavy use of some of its features (dual receivers, SD card audio recording), and it's an excellent performer on what I primarily listen to (rail). For the casual rail listeners, I'll typically recommend the V86 instead. I don't listen to air band stuff, but those who do seem to rave about it.Well, if we can still buy it new for $400+, is it worth it? What does the gang think?
It has been a while, but last I checked the R15 was around $390 in Japan. I would say around $400 is a fair price. Does one buy now, or wait for the Icom R30 successor? You’ll be missing out on a great radio for a while, then.
