Identify 46.06

Here in Pikesville, MD, copying VHF 46.06 fire/medic dispatches using Realistic PRO-2035 with only its telescoping antenna (am I in a vintage scanner retro time warp?). I assume it is Adams Cy but RR database no longer shows 46.06 for either Adams or Cumberland Cy. Would like to know what I am listening to.

Since you are a premium subscriber to RR, you can do a search by frequency (and state) and see if you can find a listing for the frequency.

Since you claim they are fire & medic dispatches you can simply look up addresses on Google Maps and this should clue you in to who you're listening to. Shouldn't be that hard if you have a good copy

A couple possibilities. Low band propagates a long way especially when skip conditions are favorable

I rather doubt it is NY state. The tone alert is S9, but the YL dispatcher's voice is rather high pitched, weak and slurred, and my hearing is not perfect. I have difficulty following her dispatches.

My guess is Westchester County NY.

"Fireground" though? OP claims they're hearing dispatches, it's anybody's guess with no detail aside from how the dispatcher sounds . Still would be nice to get a recording, an address or two or some sort of identifying info from the OP...

Agree with all that, Things can change and never make it to the RR DB, or it's a temporary situation for testing or backup. Definitely need more information...

Not used anymore, they are all VHF now, no low band base stations exist in any of their shelters.

Friendly reminder from the dbadmin side of things...these defunct listings will remain in the database forever unless someone makes a submission to have them removed. If something is truly dead and buried, no equipment left to operate on the resource, etc. please make a submission so we can nuke it and avoid "wild goose chases" like we're seeing in this thread.

PS - I bet he was hearing Westchester. Low band paging is still very active despite them having UHF paging as well.

Thought it had been removed along with the other long gone ones (46.10, 46.12, etc). Gone but not forgotten like our friend & Bucks Co's own Trentbob. Anyway, submission made

A PL tone would be nice to know aswell to help identify. Lots of good ideas above to help identify, but with no more info other then you are hearing 46.06 in MD you are on your own.

I would just write down a few of the address units are being dispatched to. Then go to Google Maps and see where it's at.

I’m stumped as well. Not sure it would be anyone in Pa. I don’t think Perry still uses it. Does Bucks? Both are too far from my 10-20 in a river valley in a hole at the bottom of a mountain to monitor.

Bucks (or rather, one of the fire companies) used to have a repeater on that frequency (former East Band) that rebroadcasted the new East Band talkgroup, but I have not put a receiver on that frequency in a long time to see if it is still active.
