Does anyone know exactly where the data tap point is (or what it's labeled) on the PRO91? Just saw this thread and know it's kinda old but very very interesting.
Thanks

I have been doing this on my 780XLT for some time now .. and there is a trade off with this. I have found using an external slicer the percentage is almost always 100%, but with tapping the 780 I find that I get about maximum 90%. It isnt a signal strength issue .. as I have a yagi pointed at the site and the signal is strong. Just my 2 cents worth ... but it is a nice mod. :)

What about on newer scanners like the 796 or PRO-96. Wouldn't you need to tap TWO points to get at the internal 4 level slicer? One to DSR as usual and the other going to CTS?

I'd be willing to do this - 4 level slicers are quite handy for.... well, you know.

On the BC796 (and I assume other scanners) the discriminator audio goes through a filter and then to the Digital Card (DSP chip). So the data slicing and decoding is done in the DSP.
