I have a PSR-800 and somehow 590 Radio ID's got deleted while I was importing some TG's. I saw the Import from text file button under the new and delete button. I tried copying and pasting the ID's that I put in the wiki and pasting them into a Microsoft Word document, it didn't work. Has anyone ever tried this and if so how did you?

It works just fine ..

You can do it either of 2 ways .. from the clipboard or from a text file. I do either .. my data is in a database and I periodically update my PSR800 from the clipboard after making a query for the data I want in my scanner.

But you are best to do it like this .. get the radio id and user name part in a text file of some sort, with a space / comma / tab (csv file or straight text file should work .. but the process is the same) between them. That way the software knows they are separate.

Select your system at the top .. and press Import from Text File or Clipboard depending on your source of your data.

Then you have a dialog that comes up with Column 1 and Column 2.
(You could have more but really .. these are the only real required 2)for it to work.

You then need to tell it that column 1 is your "Radio ID" and column 2 is your "Alpha Tag". (or reversed depending on your data)

You are done .. press import and it will suck in your data.

So in other words, I have to manually enter the 600 id's by hand?

You have to have them in some sort of fashion where you can import them into the GRE/Whistler software .. either in the clipboard or a text file. How you get them into one of those 2 methods is up to you.

Manually, you can select your system .. and click new on the right side and enter them that way if you need to. 600 is not bad .. I have 10x that amount and I am sure in some big systems it is much more.

I figured that you have to select which is the RID and Alpha tag by selecting the scroll down menu. Can't believe I overlooked it

Yes .. that is exactly what I said in the my first comment. Good luck .. if you can import them in you do not have to manually enter them. That would be a lot of work.

I curious as to why the RID's get deleted, it seems as if every time something changes or something new pops up and I import the data from the software library it deletes either the Private ID or the RID's

Just a suggestion .. I would have your radio id information in a text file, csv file or something so that you have the data elsewhere so you can quickly import it back in (via clipboard or txt file) should the need arise.

Re the disappearing .. I think that is a setting issue, where it over writes the old data with the new imported data. As a result, you are losing your radio id information. I believe there are settings to that effect.

I typically do not use RR for my scanner data (except for 1 very large system and there is no radio id data in that system) .. so I really cannot help you much there.

I can import radio id's ok (about 20,000), but I can not see a drop down to select the "scanlists" column during my import column mapping. So it defaults all my radio id's to only be associated with scanlists 1. What's up with that?

By default, imported objects are assigned to the "default scanlist" that is selected in the General Settings tab.

If your import data/rows contain a column of scanlist assignment values, you can also put each object in different scanlists on import. They can also be placed into multiple scanlists (values in that column/cell would need to be delimited (semi-colons work).

I have a column in my import file with 1;6 (scan lists I want to associate), but during the import process, I can't "map" that column to the scan list. It is not an option in the drop down list.

Are you using the latest version?

I can put "scanlists" at the top of the scanlist column in the file and the program will automatically assign the defined "scanlists" to that row. I can also pick a column and tell EZ Scan what the column represents including "Scanlists" (as long as it isn't already assigned to some other column).

I am on version 3.1 of the TRX-1 Ez Scan software, and putting column headings did not help. It wants me to select a column heading from the dropdown and there is no "scanlists" option in the dropdown list. I appreciate the advice, but it seems as if "something" is different is what you are doing and what I am doing.

Doh!

:(

My apologies -- I now realize this does not work like I was reporting....

I've been (heavily) using these features in talkgroup importing and one or a combination of things happened here:

- in my head I confused one import screen for the other, or
- I assumed that since it worked for talkgroups, it should work for radio IDs (it obviously doesn't)

I have submitted a bug report/feature request to Whistler through their posted reporting email addresses. Hopefully, they'll get this taken care of.

Again, sorry for the incorrect information.
