Do you guys think IWN will be active across the country? I'm also thinking FPS channels could be busy on that day as well..?

I'm not exactly sure of what you are asking, Nick. I am certain the IWN sites in the National Capitol Region will have some inauguration related traffic, but are you wondering about hearing it from the Pacific Northwest? I doubt that there will be any traffic from DC showing up there, unless someone locally has a NCR talk group in their radio and has it affiliated to an IWN site near you.

The IWN is not set up as a simulcast system, and each site only carries traffic for the radios affiliated to that site. There are some CBP talk groups that can get broadcast to multiple sites that seem to be determined by what button the dispatcher pushes.

As for the FPS, you never know. The FPS MegaCenters can link channels and back up dispatching duties for each other. But again, I know of no specific reason to re-boradcast traffic from the DC area in the PNW region...

Yeah, I guess I'm thinking more about security levels around the country. I believe there will be some local IWN activity. It would just seem like prudent measure for the Feds to have increased communication/awareness that day. I wouldn't be surprised if FPS was also active -- increased security around all federal buildings.

Either way, I'll be scanning like crazy on that day. :)

Except for the occasional moron, IWN is completely encrypted in the DC area.

Just because it's encrypted doesn't mean there isn't something to monitor.

On that note, I have my 396XT set up with Pro96Com monitoring IWN. Curious to see how much activity there is today...

Nothing special to report. A lot of activity on TGID 13296 but no idea what that is exactly. Perhaps a bit more traffic than during a typical weekday.

Coincidentally, I had a few USCG LMR P25 encrypted traffic bursts that I haven't heard in some time.

Anyone know what 13296 TGID is on IWN?
