Looking at purchaseing a BC200XLT but have been hard pressed to find many reviews or stories about the scanner. If anyone has any feedback positive or negative let me know. THANKS

I used to have one, but I sold it years ago. It was one of the first hand held scanners that covered the 800 MHz band. It doesn't do trunking, and I remember the 800 MHz band sensitivity was poor. I personally wouldn't buy one now, with so many better selections available today. It was okay for it's time, however.

Ah, re the battery packs- not so, grasshopper :D

There is at least 1 manufacturers/distributors that has 'em - no doubt there are more.

Batteries America

And as I recall, there were numerous mods published for the 200; if interested, I'd check mods.dk to start

By current standards, the 200 is nothing much. In it's day, however, it was THE top dog! Most people who are buying them these days are doing so out of nostalgia. Either they had one, sold or gave it away, and wish they'd kept it (kinda like my old bell bottom jeans  ); or they wanted one but couldn't afford it then, so they're getting it now.

Decide what you want: a scanner or a piece of scanning history. If the latter, then by all means get the 200.

I still use mine for Trunk Tracking ( T4WIN ). It is a very robust scanner and I have had mine apart with me in there with a soldering iron many times and it still works flawlessly.

I am on my 3rd battery pack, the latest one is a 2300mAh NiMH from

new cells in a NEW BP200 case.
