installing freescan

gents i have just installed freescan on my computer. i have a uniden bcd 396t so i installed the usb driver for windows xp and for some reason when i plug the usb cable in it sends my computer into a shut down and memory dump state. any suggestions

First uninstall Freescan, then plug thecable in. Doing this you can determine if its Freescan or the cable. Then I would try a copy of Proscan . The trial copy is full wortking for 30 days. See if you difficulties occur again.

i have now installed freescan on a different computer but now it will not connect to radio reference any thoughts

Very possibly firewall issues...same network? Mike

You now have Freescan loaded. Did it select a comm port correctly? Control scanner, comm port setup. You might go into control panel on the pc, system, device manager, comm port setup and see if a comm port is selected bty the compurter though if Freescan selected as says ready to go, this would be meaningless.
