Interesting Arduino Radio Project

Stumbled across this and it caught my eye. Developer has an extensive background in aviation electronics, so I'm interested to see what all can come of this. Compact, distinct and seems to have much better sensitivity than some alternatives.

I can't see any comparison being done to a standard scanner like a $100 Uniden BC125AT that uses 5 coils and 11 capacitors in its 108-137MHz bandpass filter. He just states what he can receive with this $300 8ch scanning receiver from his location using his antenna and makes no reference to what another receiver can do under the same circumstances.
