• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Recently channel 19 has been subject to bouts of interference. Channels 20 and up are quiet and 18 and down quiet. This only started recently.
It comes then it goes once every couple of days to for minutes to an hour plus.
Its a 9 S-unit plus of spiky interference almost static like and I swear I can sometimes hear pulse like tones deeply buried in it...only occasionally.
I find it interesting that it’s relegated to one channel.

Some, not all of the locals are getting it but no where near as bad.( were all running the same antenna....lol)
Same on either vertical or horizontal polarization.

I have eliminated RFI from the house...but do have power lines 50 feet behind the house.
The closest solar panels are a good 20 houses away.

I am suspecting data transmission on the lines...thoughts?

Yup thought of that . There’s no remote cars/planes etc... in this area. ( we have a dedicated airfield on the other side of town) Other remote devices are possible but what is the question I dont think I can answer....If it was pattern driven then a remote device would be easier to spot..ie: timed lights etc..
It sounds atmospheric but as its one frequency specific it isn’t.
Its a new sound so I have eliminated the obvious. The power lines are noisy But this is well beyond there regular annoying presence.

Thanks for the suggestion, will ponder it.

I checked out the harmonic frequencies of 27.195 and it hits them. I could only check a couple of them.
About the same drop off point up and down the band where it disappears.

Interesting...Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Intermittent-that's a bad problem on a good day. Super difficult to direction find and pinpoint. You may need a directional antenna on a harmonic to find it. If it is from the utility company they are obligated to fix it. I was jamed up on 151.6 and found it's my network router!
