• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

IP-223 trunking setup

I recently got a TELEX IP-223 from one of our old NXDN trunking sites and are needing to transfer it to another location. It's setup with a NX-800 base station and a DCB encrypted tunnel. I am needing to figure out how to change the IP and settings so it can connect to another NXDN trunking site.

I hope this is enough information to get started, but the people who set this whole system up no longer work with us...

Just put a cross over cable in place and then open the configuration page with a browser.

You can also go in through the serial port via Telnet and reset the unit back to factory.

Awesome! I'm able to get into it now and am looking through all of the settings. I'm trying to link a base station with the IP-223 to another base station and IP-223 at another location. Am I needing to set it up through csoft or do I just need the two units? It's going through a Kenwood NXDN trunking system.

If I understand you, I think you can set this up back-to-back, as long as it's a permanent, always up, patch. If you want control, then you should go through CSoft.

And I second the "DCB Ethernet tunnels " suggestion for tunneling things.

It's going to be a permanent thing. We don't want to have to build a whole repeater system in the new building since it's right down the street. We had this IP-223 setup for another site but that one closed down and they kept the equipment.

I just need to program the 2 base stations with an IP-223 each and talk to each other. My understanding is that on one side, it's a conventional portable talking to the base station. That then takes it from the IP-223 to the one that it is linked to at another location and broadcasts it to a specific channel that the receiving base station is setup for on the trunking network.

This is the only Telex or Motorola equipment we have really ever deployed into the field so it's a bit of a new world for me. Currently, I am going to look into the DCB tunnel tomorrow and see if that makes a bit more sense with linking the two. Is that a good place to start?
