Just wondering if anybody is still using the 2052. I hear the mil-air is hot. Is there anything else that makes this a must have scanner.

They are finally on clearance to a better price. I'll admit, one reason I'm thinking about getting one is it matches my 2044. Now that's a true VHF masterpiece :) It has a better rx than most of my 2mtr ham gear.

I would assume the computer controls make the 2052 worthwhile as long as you don't need digital.

thanks

I have one worked great on military air. But now it won't trunk track. so am sending in for repair. But did work good up until then.

Yup, mostly for MilAir, but can quickly be switched to trunking if needed.
Software available includes:
ScanControl
WinScanRS
RadioCommander
ScanCat Lite Plus
TrunkManager
ScanPro

I just went to CompUSA and bought a male to female serial cable. It works great! I DID have to "break off" the male screws so it would connect properly to the back of the scanner, but no biggy.

I've got the service manual for the 2052. PM me if you would like it and I'll figure a way to get it to you (I don't have any FTP or web space). Hopefully this will make up for my stupid answer earlier.

I had a hard time deciding between the Pro-2052 and the Pro-95. But after looking at the specs, the 95 is the better radio, much to my surprise. I went to the website above and loaded all the Milair freq for my area and hear tons of calls.

PRO 2052

Hi
I have a Pro 2052 too. I only had one problem with it. Problems with the volume control button. It would be loud at one time and soft at another time so I took it to my local Radio Shack and they tested it and it needed cleaning in the inside of it due to it being dusty.

I love mine, but am a total noob as it relates to scanning. Is it that I'm a charter member of the short bus club or is the manual for the 2052 a bit difficult? For example, I'm having a hard time understanding talk groups and exactly how to program them in. Can anyone point me to some pointed information on this?

Thanks for the welcome! I'm very very new at all this. It's a completely foreign world to me. I love listening, so there is a passion to learn. I'm reading all the threads here, but some of the termimology used is a bit difficult for me. I learn best by example or by actually watching someone do it. Learning from reading isn't a strong suit of mine. hehe.

I have the 2052 Desktop Scanner. I did get the Win95 software. I live in the state of Washington, up in Monroe to be exact. Is there anywhere I can get the data file to import into the software and then feed it to the scanner?

I just bought one on clearance, and love it. I should have gotton it before my Pro 95. I definately have'nt figured it out completely, but I did pick up midair refueling on the 207NE track for the first time. As an aside, I've had that freq. programmed into my 95 w/ WIN95, and never heard anything. (As it's been stated , the 95 is not a good choice for milair).
