• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I've been working on a code plug for my XTS 5000, that I was going to use as a scanner, but when I write the new plug, all I get is dead air, Is it possible the radio is bricked?

uhf/vhf 700/800? It's possible it could be as you say"bricked". There is a lot to setting up a radio to do NAS. It could be cp error's.

If the radio is powered up still, its not bricked.

What exactly are you trying to program and what is "dead air"?

Just snowballing a few things....are you trying to monitor a Phase 2 system with a Phase 1 radio? (5000 and XTL are Phase 1)
Got the site numbers right? Wrong number, no reception.
Better by far to use a scanner.
If they're encrypted you won't hear a thing.

I can't find anywhere in the cps to input NAC
NAC is in the Zone Channel Assignment area. That is, if you set it up as an Astro personality. Could you please give us more info. such as
  1. Model Number of your radio
  2. Flashcode/feature set of your radio
  3. What you are trying to monitor

Bricked usually refers to a radio that does not respond to CPS or any other programming software.

NAS requires several things to be set correctly. PARTHCITY has a good suggestion. we would need more details on the hardware and system before any meaningful advice can be issued.

Most agencies that have access to and use those P25 radios still use scanners.

Or even drop the file of your codeplug here

Btw if you do nas and if the system id is not bee00 its probably going to be hard to listen to

If you don't want to interfere, get a real scanner. Sorry, but the questions you've asked so far indicate you're in over your head on this one. I'd get some money back on the XTS5K and put it towards a scanner.
