Is law enforcement very aware that we can hear them?

Well, youre not in So cal, or hellifornia, as i call it... Yep, in this CRAP hole of a state, You can be popped for drinking in your front yard, or driveway... Geez, i wish i could find another job ANYWHERE!

They Get You On That Because "Its in The Public View" Thats why some officers unfortunately get sent out there, but most of the time they just talk to you because like most of the people here said and its not against the law to drink alcohol in your own property

And unfortunately it's highly usual for callers to exaggerate or flat-out lie to dispatchers/call-takers, figuring it will get the police there quicker, or get them dispatched to something like that which isn't a police matter to begin with.

That ties up police phone lines, wastes dispatchers' time, officers' time, and inconveniences or irritates people who aren't actually breaking any laws, but that can't be determined until the officers get to the scene and check it out. Not to mention that meanwhile it's making all those resoures virtually or even literally unavailable for real crimes or emergencies. I always wished they could include caller-lie-detectors with all the other gadgetry in the 9-1-1 system
